On 28th Dec 2014 the Pudumai Penn Foundation was formally launched along with its inaugural batch of students. The event, attended by the trustees, advisors and the families of the first batch of scholars, helped integrate our advisors’ ideas with practical realities faced by our first batch of Pudumai Penn scholars.
In her address to the “Pudumai Penns” and their parents, Managing Trustee Vanaja Arvind urged them to stay focused and put their all into the classes. Success, she said, would come from commitment and discipline. Family support also plays a huge role. She outlined the plans, the blueprint for growing this community of “Pudumai Penns” and the initiatives planned.
Following an invocation to the Goddess Saraswathi for wisdom, participants and their families took part in a number of group activities and shared emotional stories of courage amidst societal and financial odds, gratitude an initiative like Pudumai Penn that in some cases was life-changing and most importantly, an emotional bond.
